Shin’en Confirms Jett Rocket II – The Wrath of Taikai – 3DS eShop News @ Nintendo Life

Posted Tue, 15 Jan 2013 | 17:15 GMT by Thomas Whitehead

Going a bit Star Trek

Yesterday we brought you the news that the 3DS sequel to WiiWare title Jett Rocket was confirmed to be nearly finished and on the way “early this year”, good news for those who’d wondered about its fate for much of 2012.

With that happy news confirmed, developer and publisher Shin’en Multimedia has now clarified the title for the sequel, which is a diversion from the original codename and, for our money, a possible homage to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan — it’s Jett Rocket II – The Wrath of Taikai.

Hopefully in the coming weeks we’ll learn more about the story and, perhaps most importantly, get some juicy gameplay footage to enjoy. In the meantime, are you digging the title?

Sigur Ros To Release New Album This Year

Two in two years – Excellent!

Audio Addict

sigurros

Icelandic quartet turned trio Sigur Ros yesterday revealed that they are set to release a new album this year in a Q&A on Reddit.

Keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson has left the band and when asked how this may affect the sound the band stated “There will be changes yes, but not only because Kjartan has left. We always try to evolve and make things interesting.”

One can only hope that the sound they achieve is as majestic as their previous endeavours.

In other Sigur Ros news the trio have been scheduled to headline Live From Jodrell Bank on 30th August. This will see them playing at the University Of Manchester’s observatory, alongside a multitude of science workshops, lectures and experiments.

For more information, visit livefromjodrellbank.com. Tickets are on sale now.

There’s a very good chance that Icelandic indie-folkers Of Monsters and Men single “Little Talks” is going to make it into the top 10 of the Hottest 100 this weekend and could possibly take out the whole thing (although our money is on something a little less folky).

And on the eve of that countdown Of Monsters and Men have released their new video “King And Lionheart”, another semi-animated affair and another example of just how good these guys truly are. Check it out below:

The latest track to emerge from the upcoming pirate compilation Son of Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys is the eloquently titled “Asshole Rules the Navy” by Iggy Pop and A Hawk and a Hacksaw. You can take a listen to the track below but be warned – it’s not for those easily offended by crude language (as the title would suggest):

Son of Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys, a compilation of pirate songs curated and created by Johnny Depp, is due for release on 22nd February. You can check out the full track listing here and hear the Tom Waits and Keith Richards contribution here.

Bowser Named Best Game Villain Of All Time By Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2013

Go Bowser! Hoping for an expanded role in the next Wreck-It Ralph movie.

My Nintendo News

Today, Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking, announce the Top 50 Video Game Villains of All Time as voted for by over 5,000 of their readers. The list, which is revealed in its entirety in the new Guinness World Records 2013 Gamer’s Edition book, sees the iconic Bowser from Nintendo’s long-running Mario franchise crowned king, with Portal’s GLaDOS beaten into runner up spot.

Bowser, from one of the most iconic and best-selling video game franchises of all time, Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo, 1985) landed top spot with over 20% of the vote. Mario’s arch enemy is nothing if not persistent: few enemies would attempt to kidnap the same princess twice, let alone eight times during the past 28 years! It seems his malevolent persistence has paid off with the ‘King of Koopas’ becoming the king of the videogame villains.
