Ubisoft Says Child Of Light Was Influenced By Miyazaki Films

My Nintendo News

Child of Light creative director Patrick Plourde has explained that Ubisoft’s stunning side-scrolling RPG Child of Light was influenced in no small part by acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki movies. Child of Light is coming to a number of platforms including Wii U, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and is due for release sometime in 2014.

“Miyazaki movies are a great reference for me because they primarily have female main characters, and at the same time, I feel they are loved by gamers. You can watch Iron Man and My Neighbor Totoro in the same weekend and it’s not considered weird. In fact, you would be considered a film aficionado. So why wouldn’t a gamer, somebody that likes games, be interested in playing different experiences? One type of experience doesn’t replace another, they complete each other. We will see if Child of Light will be well received, and I hope it will be, but…

The Fall Is Officially Coming To Wii U After Meeting Kickstarter Goals

My Nintendo News

Although Over The Moon’s alien world Metroid/Limbo mash-up The Fall has yet to meet its projected Wii U goal on Kickstarter, the company has announced that they have become an official Nintendo developer, and will therefore be bringing the title to Wii U regardless. The Fall has surpassed its main goal with over $21K funded out of only $17K necessary to meet it. The Wii U goal was originally set at $29K before the company made its latest announcement.

In The Fall, players take control of a high-tech suit that is activated to transport an unconscious human traveler away from a hostile alien environment. The black and white silhouetted levels and mysterious narrative are reminiscent of the popular indie game Limbo. Kickstarter projects for Nintendo consoles have been popping up frequently lately, especially with the new Unity system making it easier for developers to port games to Wii U.

Iizuka Says They Tried To Get The Same Feel For Wii U And 3DS Versions Of Sonic Lost World

My Nintendo News

sonic lost world box art 3ds

Sonic producer Takashi Iizuka has explained that Sonic Team have tried their hardest to get the same feel for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Sonic Lost World. Iizuka says that it wasn’t an easy task for the development team, but they kept cutting things back on the Nintendo 3DS to get that particular version looking like the Wii U. Iizuka says their main aim was to make consumers unable to tell which version is which.

“In Colours and Generations the focus was a side-scrolling game. If you look at Lost World, the main concept is a cylindrical world, so it didn’t make sense to do a side view. The 3DS’s extra power makes it the sort of place 3D can be used really well. Even though it’s power powerful than a DS, it still has its limits. It wasn’t easy to get the same levels, but we kept cutting…

Aonuma explained that players who have become used to the series and who are expecting things to work a certain way will probably be very surprised. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is due out on Nintendo 3DS in November.

“Using the 3D effect on Nintendo 3DS and making the two-dimensional A Link To The Past playable in 3D was kind of an assignment that Mr Miyamoto had given me after the release of Nintendo 3DS.”

“However, I wanted to do more than just that. My main reason for wanting to do it was because this game is perfect for the part where Link turns into a drawing and moves along the walls.”

“The 3D effects are this…
