GameSpot Lists Zelda Link Between Worlds Their Best Game Of 2013

US gaming publication GameSpot has chosen The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds as their best game of 2013. The publication says that Link’s latest adventure see’s Nintendo finally realise the long-dormant potential of The Legend of Zelda, and created an incredible experience that will be admired for years to come. They also said that Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a stunning masterpiece that’s so consistently rewarding, so unexpected.

Amazon Puts Rayman Legends Ahead Of Super Mario 3D World In Game Of The Year List

Popular online retailer Amazon.com has put together a list of their favourite games of 2013 spanning all formats. The well received Super Mario 3D World is placed ninth in Amazon’s best games of 2013 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is placed in 3rd. Interestingly multiplatform game Rayman Legends has been placed in seventh position beating Super Mario 3D World. However, the online retailer has placed the critically acclaimed The Last of Us as Game of the Year.

IGN Game Of The Year Nominees Announced

Popular online gaming site IGN has posted their own personal Game of the Year nominees for 2013.  Unsurprisingly, there’s a couple of Nintendo games on the list which include Super Mario 3D World for Wii U and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for the Nintendo 3DS. Grand Theft Auto V seems to be scooping up a few Game of the Year awards, so it will certainly be interesting to see how IGN vote.

The New Yorker Names Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 And Link Between Worlds In 10 Best Games Of 2013

Naming the best games of 2013 is never a small feat, so with the wealth of titles on offer this year The New Yorker has sat down and listed their top 10 games of 2013 – and three are Nintendo games.

In an unranked list, Simon Parkin speaks of the ten best titles this year has offered, naming PC releases Papers, Please and Stanley Parable, an iOS game and the multi-platform game Saints Row IV. But the article also lists three Nintendo games, including two Wii U titles Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3, along with the Nintendo 3DS game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Commenting on Super Mario 3D World, Parkin says “it is the strongest orthodox game of the year, demonstrating Nintendo’s unmatched talent for spatial-reasoning designs.” While for Pikmin 3, he says, “the game offers a deep, primal appeal to both…

The Underclassed pick the 50 best albums of 2012

AlbumsWhen we did the best of B-sides list the other week, we found it impossible to rank which was best. How do you take an Indie album like for example In The Belly of the Brazen Bull by The Cribs and then compare it to Frank Ocean’s album? I don’t personally think you can rank things in such a way. 

So again, because we’re so uncannily hipster (sigh) on The Underclassed, we’ve simply drawn up a list of 50 albums that were pretty damn special in 2012. A highlight for were Tame Impala’s second record ‘Lonerism’, which ticked every single box for me. But there were also superb efforts from Django Django, Field Music, Tall Ships, Melody’s Echo Chamber and Grimes. Here I am, waffling out the list before it’s even thrown at you! 

So without further ado, here is The Underclassed’s 50 best albums of 2012!
